Elaine Bailey BSc (hons) MRSLT, MASLTIP

I am experienced in working with people who have a neurological illness that has resulted in a communication, eating, drinking and/or swallowing difficulty.  I offer specialist assessment and therapy, ensuring we review your needs and set your goals together, building a tailored package of therapy to meet your individual requirements.  I am experienced in working in the NHS as well as privately, meaning that I have highly specialised knowledge resulting in evidence based practice to target your difficulties. I value the relationships I form with each patient, and believe that that goes a long way in improving therapeutic outcomes. Please message or call me to find out how I can help you.

My Background

A passion for wanting to help others led me down the path of speech and language therapy into a career that allows me to provide my patients with high quality healthcare. Since qualifying in London in 1998, I have developed specialist skills and knowledge in working with people who have complex communication and swallowing disorders.  I have experience of working in a range of environments, including the community, visiting people in their own homes,  acute hospital wards including intensive care, medical and rehabilitation wards, and in rehabilitation units. I have wide and varied experience,  and am often consulted for second opinions for complex cases.
As well as working 1:1 with my patients, I am also experienced in running groups and working with families, carers and the multi-disciplinary team. I am experienced in carrying out capacity assessments for people with severe communication difficulties, and in ensuring that information is provided in the most accessible format.   This ensures that people with communication difficulties are provided with the best possible opportunity to understand information and to convey their wants, needs and wishes.
I have written and present training modules on the John Moores University/Cheshire & Merseyside Rehabilitation Network Master’s Module, and have contributed to two chapters in the Cheshire & Merseyside Rehabilitation Network text book, due for publication next year. I am certified in LSVT (a voice treatment for neurological disorders) and have trained in Facial Oral Tract Therapy (FOTT). I am a member of the North West Brain Injury Clinical Excellence Network
